On May 20-21, 2016, members of the Northeast Region of NAWIC, including three Baltimore Chapter members, convened in Mystic CT for our annual Spring Forum – “Power of the Past ~ Force of the Future”
Keynote speaker Holland Haiis joined us to speak about leadership, accountability, networking and making real connections. She shared what kind of body language to look for and what it means, along with how to identify damaging behaviors.
We continued our weekend with educational presentations from two of our own, Leah Curran (Delaware Chapter) and Romina Byrd (Washington DC Chapter) titled, “The Mind – Body Connection through Meditation and Nutrition”. Leah spoke to us about the importance of getting enough rest and eating well, she was followed by Romina who taught us how to properly meditate and how soothing and calming it can be, even just for 15 minutes.
The following day we were joined by Jim Bouchard, author of “8 Strategies for Effective Leaders”. This presentation was highly interactive and focused on the ever changing circumstances and conditions you face as a lead in the construction industry. His message? Be the leader others respect, trust and admire. Inspire the best in others and insist on the best in yourself.
We ended the weekend with our Northeast Region Dinner & Awards Banquet. Several awards were given out including, Safety & Health, Block Kids, CADD Membership, WIC Week and Northeast Member of the Year.
Our Regional Forum’s are always educational, inspiring and lots of fun. This forum we were focused on “Power of the Past ~ Force of the Future” as our mantra and how to focus on yourself and taking care of #1
